Pledging to refine and improve our health, and not until the New Year, my good friend Val and I ran and bought nice and shiny bright red Bicycle mountain an enthusiastic owner of a bicycle shop in the small town of Lake Side of Cromwell in Central Otago, New Zealand. The owner was so caught operator in our enthusiasm and long-term planning that was released in water bottles, helmets and a free health check (on bikes) in the next 4 weeks.

Our first expedition to the next week, would be a short walk along the Clutha River Clyde to Alexandra, both small fruit growing townships in rural areas dry Central Otago. We whizzed through the autumn leaves ankle deep along the riverside track to stop and see the fish jumping, committing to bring along fishing poles next time, after all he had to fly fishing courses that we had not, and spend hours untangling our lines of willow trees.

On the way we explored the abandoned gold mines, and finally stopped for lunch, bread design and a tin of sardines quickly thrown together. The tin of sardines refused to open despite both verbal and physical abuse, as was the bread of unique design, watered with warm water. On we went through the township of Alexandra, and a section of the Otago Central Rail road that would take us back to the vehicle that had stopped in the town Clyde – the latter stage should have been an 8-10km walk.

The Otago Central Rail Trail was created when the train line from Dunedin, in the east coast of the South Island to Cromwell became obsolete. He was picked up by an enterprising confidence after the lines were sold and railway sleepers they were, and remain, garden accessories fashionable fetch a good price. This acquisition paved the way for a four-day cycling adventure through Sun arid soaked field, gorges, tunnels, and spend many old hotels and pubs that are alive and well during the era of gold mining in the decade 1860. These relics of the past have been renewed, reinvented and provide great sleepover accommodation with delicious fresh local gourmet menu and wine selections Central Otago, which are world class. So what more need one?

So we went outside, head down non stop chatting until after stopped an hour we glanced around us, and go – it was not Clyde hills as we knew – who had gone blind in the wrong direction! The sardine can was not open yet, which is literally starving, but we found an apple tree laden and held out that while deciding which path to take, before or after.

The decision was to ride, as we have come to a pub or coffee soon so keep going and growing deep in the side of a foreign country. I was booked for a movie night with friends, so I called my husband (cell phone) to cancel the measures we were lost in the old railroad. His comment was "How the $!!?/# not lost in a railway line?" – Well, you could, and we did.

Therefore, it was in the next tree – the corner – and yes! Around the corner are buildings with red roofs. Falling off our bicycles with emotion he could barely walk to the counter of the Chatto Creek Tavern, I will love you forever there. After ordering cappuccinos and chicken wraps, the best we've tested, the bar gave us with our situation.

The general consensus was to return to the way he had arrived – but as he could barely cause the meter to the bike seat had to think smarter choices. Then the owner of the establishment came to the rescue. We could take the car back to the 15 km Clyde, pick up our vehicle and return to collect the bikes. Thank goodness – forever grateful that fell on his' Bright Shiny SPORTS CAR RED WITH THE ROOF DOWN "- took over the leadership a new dimension, which is committed to sharing our grandparents boring cars for one of these – after all our bikes would be very smart in the back of one of these numbers, with designer sunglasses in progress – second thoughts even fit bikes in the back of one of these delightful little cars.

Back to Chatto Creek and a "few" chardonnays later we left for the trip home, the best friend of everyone in the building and prepared to get a lot of hazing from our partners and family members when we finally arrived home. They did not let us down!

A A few weeks later I dropped in Chatto Creek, with a team of cyclists organized and biked for 2 whole days I could not let them pass Chatto Creek Tavern without one of its very delicious chicken wraps.
