In the UK, how strict is the drinking / cycling laws? I'm talking about pedal irons, not motorcycles.?

I'm not talking about being drunk. Only few pints then a casual bike ride home again afterwards. About 20 years ago, was more or less acceptable (although technically illegal), and I often in the cycle of the pub about 3 miles away in a Friday night and then travel home again. Sometimes the police arrested me for blowing a bulb, and during the course of events I wondered if I'd had a drink. When I answered "Yes, I sent my way, but I was advised to be careful. Do Things are much tougher now? Or did the police take the same tolerant attitude today? And if they are far more stringent than would be possible to sentence an offender watch? Ryder, are you sure? I know of at least one disabled man who was cautioned for being drunk in charge of a wheelchair.

There is a crime being drunk in charge of a pedal cycle. No alcohol is a crime type, but a matter of opinion. So while you are reasonably safe and competent no bike will say, if you are stumbling all over the place and are a danger to yourself and others that probably could be "taken in the night" until you're sure to be left out. Perhaps you would be charged, but it is not common.
