Is it easy to break the axles on a BMX bike?

I'm thinking of putting the pins on my bmx bike but I'm afraid that might break the axles or is called (that long piece of metal where the screws, wheels, and the pins go). Because my rear wheels tend to blow very hard and when I do it like I'm weak ground not want to break. Also, how do I stop slamming me to the back wheels?

People do it all the time. I do not see why it should break. If they are lower than might have to worry about, but not after the first time.
