How to burn the most calories while riding your bike

The bike is an excellent source of exercise for people with joint sensitive and for those of us who are over 40 years. I trot, but suffered from terrible Shin splints, which seems to be a genetic problem, as my sister and father also suffered from terrible cramps in the shin. This is not something that can "work through" is painful burning sensation in his right buttons.
My father still rides his bike in his seventies.
I have been riding regularly for four years, despite the fact that here in the north-east, horse riding in winter can be prohibitive. I'm feeling better, sleeping better, and even work better.
There is a way to get the most out of cycling to burn calories.

The pedaling action uses the large muscles of the leg, the bike is an excellent choice for burning calories. Many people, however, are not aware of sufficient strength is required to use these muscles, and instead of letting the bike do the work for them. For maximum benefit, choose a resistance between 70-80 revolutions per minute. RPM stands for "Revolutions Per Minute". For RPM on a bike outdoors, just count the number of pedal strokes you take in a minute. You need help to reach many of the resistance necessary. According to its intensity, cycling can burn 500-1000 calories per hour. On the other hand, arms and torso do not receive many benefits cycling. This is where you can complete your exercise routine some strengthening exercises. I cut myself short journey of twenty minutes then do strength training. Or do a strength training on my days off.

Whatever your plan is essential to break a sweat. Lines Guidelines for healthy adults under 64 use of moderate cardiovascular exercise 30 minutes a day, five days a week, or vigorously intense cardio 20 minutes a day three days a week, according to the ACSM and the American Heart Association. Also suggest a period of strength training.

Always consult your doctor if you commit to an exercise program

Stationary bike / calories burned?

Ok, so ive been using my bike (recumbent) and I accidentally broken the little machine that tells you how many calories you burn and how fast they really need going.and kow how many calories im burning. ok well im 154 pounds. 5'6 I do not think IM / IT riding so fast. [= In a minute, I walked 140 times uhh ... so that your left foot, right foot as well as two and away .. ayways i do not think I explained it very well, but if someone can have an ID guesstamite how many calories you burn in one hour saying? Thank you. =]

Hey Cowgirl … I can use a stationary bike daily and pure .. guestimate here are some tips .. In a standard stationary bike, about 32 pedals as you described (the foot is left, right foot is two, etc.) is 100 meters. Therefore, if you 140 pedals in one minute, you're about 437 meters per minute (very fast), which is about 26 kilometers per hour or 16 miles per hour. In my stationary bike, with the level of the drive wheel is too low, I manage to do the same (I'm 191 pounds and 6 feet high) and reading of calories you give me for 1 hour to 25 km / h is about 600 calories. Incidentally, I think the readings give the bikes are still too high, it to say, suppose that the readings are based on the average people of average size and weight, so they count as 420 calories in my calories day. Hope that helps ….
