Is pool exercise equivalent to walking?

If I do “marching” motions or “bike riding” motions in the deep end of a pool with a flotation device for 45 minutes, would that be the same as walking on land for 45 minutes? I would appreciate hearing from a physical therapist or someone knowledgable about water exercise. Thank You!

I’m not someone with special knowlege of that, but Arthritis runs in my family and it is reccomended. It is actually better than walking on land because you have no impact on the joints and you have the added resistance of moving aginst the water. Very good for you!
