Preparation of the bicycle through France?

In August, I'll be cycling through the Loire Valley and I wondered how I could go prepare. I know I need padded bike shorts. However, I am not sure which brand is best for 40 miles day. Also, do I need one or two pairs of shorts. I think I'll surf 3 or 4 days. I also need snacks. I think that a protein energy bar /. What brand is more than my hunger?

40 miles is not far away each day. You can stop searching for food in case of need. You do not need more than 3-4 hours to deliver this distance. Bring lots of water and take apples and a banana.
