There is a new growing trend in the green community – "bicycle valets" or "bike valets." While bicycle servants vary from region to region in the design, personal equipment, and execution, they share a common element – they create a destination for cycling.

The bikes are much more energy efficient than cars. You can travel further with less fuel and less pollution, use of a bicycle of any car. You can see the dramatic difference when comparing CO2/Mile few modes of transportation.

The following are the averages of the CO2/Mile contamination with a single passenger vehicle:

• 1.57 pounds of CO2/Mile in a "Sport Utility Vehicle" MPG – 15
• 1.10 pounds of car CO2/Mile in an "average" – 21.5 MPG
• 0.59 pounds of car CO2/Mile in an 'economy' – 40 MPG
• 0.00 pounds of CO2/Mile in a "bicycle"

Review of pollution produced by each vehicle, it is easy see why environmentalists like to encourage bicycle friendly destinations whenever possible.

What is a Service "Bicycle?"

A bike valet service is an organized and / or valet parking for bikes – imagine a wardrobe for bicycles. Each area has its own execution, but the point of service is that visitors arrive on their bikes and to offer large-scale, short-term bicycle parking.

In Santa Monica, California, you can find a variation of the bike valet. The city of Santa Monica offers free bicycle parking for both the Summer Twilight Dance Series (a series of free summer concerts) and the Farmers Market on Sunday. In this case, the city provides staff and similar to a traditional camera assistant, staff to provide a ticket and take your vehicle. You are required to collect your vehicle before the end of the event, but there is no service charge, tipping is at your discretion.

Further north, in San Jose, California, Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition offers similar design services valet bicycle in many places including Stanford football games home, the San Jose Blues Festival, Moffett Field Civic Exhibition and numerous art and wine festivals.

San Francisco, California, offers a free bicycle valet parking at a number of events, including all home games for San Francisco Giants, the film Park series, the Tour de Fat and Winterfest. San Francisco is unique in many other cities since January 1.1999, the city requires bicycle parking for all major outdoor events.

In Fairfax, California, you can find a more effort. Marin County Bicycle Coalition loans racks PVC Bicycle "Wednesday green", which in turn used to provide free bicycle parking, safe. "Wednesday green" features Bicycle parking at the Farmers Market on Wednesday. While not exactly a help desk of innertube, "Wednesday Green", offers temporal scale of parking for bikes. This in turn makes your local farmers market for a bicycle friendly destination.
