Ensure that you can ride a mountain bike anywhere but there is nothing like riding miles of winding single track hand construction (just for one) through the forests of North Georgia. But where? Unfortunately, mountain bikes have been expelled ruthlessly public parks throughout the Southeast for its tendency to erode built hiking trails and even collide with the hikers themselves. The solution? Well, if you live in Woodstock, Georgia, who disputed its own park and construct their own way.

The Southeast Off-Road Bicycle Organization (SIP) is responsible for the popular Creek Trail System Blankets creek that borders the shores of Lake Allatoona. Other projects include Atlanta Sorba near Morningside Nature Preserve trail that connects downtown Atlanta to Buckhead, through a path of 30 acres of forest, and Big Creek Park in Roswell.

BLANKETS CREEK

Almost all of hand-built by a team of volunteers, Blankets Creek Park is the only designated bike park in Cherokee County and is proving to be one of the best rides in the state. Just in Woodstock, near the Sixes Road, not far the center and just 25 miles outside of Atlanta, the park attracts over 100,000 bicycles per year. Children, men, women, families, couples, lonely, the experienced riders and even hikers roads converge for large, good training and fun times.

The park has three short loops that let you choose your own adventure – from beginner trails to the hair of funds that demand technical skills. The fourth group is building for a total of 16 miles away of the goodness of the road. The Northern Circuit will be completed in spring 2008 and goes into bankruptcy the guts of all but the most experienced cyclists. With the dizzying rise and fall of the head, you really have to know how to handle your bike if you want to get to the end of the track four miles. Fortunately, there are many opportunities to train.

The Mosquito Flats trail and slightly more difficult Mosquito Bite Trail (1.3 miles total) are fun rides perfect for kids easy and beginners or to get your heart rate before taking the more challenging trails. Intermediate Riders can try the housing bond (3.5 miles) and can be advanced try the South (Loop 4 miles) by a steady stream of zigzags, climbing, rock gardens, roots and log crossings.

Although all previous paths were built by hand with rakes, shovels, and a lot of hard work, the new North Loop trail is open for a mini-excavator. The main benefit is that the track will be completed in less than half what was needed to build by hand.
