we are going to Maui & renting myhog that i have at home any ideas where to go?
We’ll be thier on 05-18-06 found the bike just want a place to go. we’ll try almost any thing once and have all ready.
Here are some motorcycle rides you can take on Maui:
HALEAKALA
This ride will take you about two and a half hours to ascend to an elevation of 10,023 feet, where you will experience breathtaking views of sunrise, and a feeling of being on top of the world. All of Maui is at your feet as you may view the islands of Lanai, Molokai and Kahoolawe to the West, and to the East, Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, the majestic volcanoes on the Big Island of Hawaii. Bring warm clothes and a camera!
LAHAINA
This ride will take you about 17 miles from Kihei along the ocean to the historic harbor village of Lahaina Town. This small town was once the playground of Hawaiian royalty, and is now the Fun Capitol of Maui. Old historic landmarks, refurbished buildings, restaurants, night clubs and shopping are abundant. The weather is usually warm along this route, however a sweatshirt and camera are recommended.
HANA
This ride is around two to three hours in each direction (52 miles). There are 54 one-lane bridges, and 600 hairpin turns that snake their way through the breathtaking rain forest. Experience panoramic views of blue ocean washing against an ever-changing shoreline. Rugged mountains, rushing waterfalls and streams are abundant. There are NO service stations on this route, so you must remember to fill your gas tanks before leaving! The town of Hana has one service station to refill as you depart. Bring warm clothes, rain gear and camera, and leave early, as this ride will take all day!
IAO VALLEY
This is a short ride from Kihei, about 15 – 20 minutes. This valley was described by Mark Twain as the “Yosemite of the Pacific.” A short walk from the parking lot will bring you to the foot of the Iao Needle. This 2250-foot basalt core remained after water washed away the weaker stones surrounding it. Beautiful views of the West Maui Mountains show one million years of erosion. Botanical Gardens, a Japanese Tea House, and Nature Center are all points of interest.
