Those who believe Virginia has little history of civil war could not be more wrong. Did you think the "Old Dominion State" is home to one of the seven natural wonders of the world? How about the fact that the most visited national parks located within borders of this state? Still not convinced? Then you are missing out on the wonderful caves and caverns on the beautiful coastline and many natural wonders.

Consider the Shenandoah National Park – a must see – thanks largely to the 105-mile-long (and oh so dramatic) Skyline Drive. This journey through the Blue Ridge Mountains in north-central part of the state through not only powerful in order, but through forests and farmland stock. The park offers more than 500 miles of trails, including 100 miles of the famous Appalachian Trail. Looking for an RV trip even more? Try a visit by the 469-km-long Blue Ridge Parkway, which connects the Shenandoah National Park to another jewel, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Trivia fans will surely know that the Blue Ridge Parkway, another proud member of the NPS, it is often the first – or is at the top – the most visited national parks in the country.

Attractions abound in the area of land Virginia. Near Luray Caverns earned its status as a landmark of the biggest – and most surprising – Systems caves on the east coast. Walkers experience incredibly high ceilings, stone columns, shimmering pools and stalactites in all directions. That strange noise that will undoubtedly be hearing is the only organization in the world Stalacpipe, which is another advantage of visiting this wonderful ground.
City Chincoteague on the Eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay is best known for wild horses frolic along the coastline Assateague Island National. Of course, there are many other attractions, too, including beautiful beaches, dunes, lush forests and swamps for your viewing pleasure. Activities abound, including swimming, hiking, camping, cycling and wildlife watching. About Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge is a case to make a long stop, especially when one takes into account the 14,000 hectares in this wooded setting beside the sea The shelter is a must for birdwatchers, as there is no shortage of opportunities to see waterfowl, wading birds and shorebirds.

If you visit nothing else on their way south or north of a winter snow observation birds, be sure to plan a stop at Natural Bridge. Nestled between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny mountain ranges in west-central state, this show has the beauty, history and recognition as one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Once overseen by a young George Washington, and having belonged to Thomas Jefferson, the rock formation 215 meters high (higher than Niagara, as the locals say) is limited to what its name promises – Forms a natural bridge 90 feet wide. How was it formed? Who knows?

Cumberland Gap National Park in the southwestern part of the state offers history as well as beauty does. The park area was an important means in their day to everyone from Native Americans and settlers to the West, Daniel Boone and the Union and Confederate soldiers fighting for control. And you can understand why, considering all the 20,000 acres of Cumberland Gap region. Of course, there's also the park that highlights Cudjo Caves (home one of the highest stalagmite in the world), the cave of colored sand, and beautiful White Rocks.
