Biking Over The Bay Bridge
How long to Bike over the golden gate bridge?
Ok, a little more details… Land in SFO, take the Pittsburg / Bay Point Two-Way SFO BART Line to Montgomery St. Station,
1) This should take a half hour? and then walk from there or bus to…?
2) Rent the bike at www.blazingsaddles.com on hyde st.?
3) How long to bike over the bridge?
4) Should we go down to Saulsalido and ferry back or bike back from the bridge, we’re on a real time crunch for that day!?

There are a lot of factors involved, such whether or not you have luggage, bike skill level, etc. But to make it simple, I’ll answer your questions as you have asked them. These are just my opinions…
1. There is only one BART train out of SFO station, so hop on it and you’ll be in The City within 30 minutes. I would recommend getting off at the Powell Station (one stop before Montgomery). The station escalator near the rear end of your train will take you up to street level. Once on street level, you will see the line for the Powell Steet Cable Car turnaround in front of the GAP store. At this point you can wait in line, or start walking north on Powell to the next stops, to avoid lines. The hill is four blocks up, but it’s all the way down once you get over the hump. Take the Powell-Mason line if you wish.
2. The end of the cable car line is at Taylor and Bay. Walk three blocks west and one block north to Blazing Saddles on Hyde.
3. It will take 30-45 minutes to bike to the bridge for an average person. Over the bridge takes about 10 minutes (unless you stop for photos), and once on the other side, take the tunnel under the bridge and sweep down the road and follow the signs to Sausalito. It’s all downhill for a good portion. This will take about 30-45 minutes.
4. Unless you love riding up steep hills and doing the same route backwards, I would strongly suggest riding back to SF on a ferry. Once there, depending which pier you get dropped off at, you will have up to a 15 minute ride ahead of you back to Blazing Saddles.
If I were you, I would study the route ahead of time, and bring a map. Good luck and have fun!
