riding bicycle on sidewalk in vancouver wa ?

is it illegal to ride my bike on sidewalks of vancouver wa? i dont just want a “yes or no” answer. i tried looking this up but can’t really come up with a direct answer. i know in some states it IS illegal.

It’s illegal in most places whether or not they actually enforce it. Many cities also may ban it in certain “business districts” where they’re more likely to crack down and either ask you to get on the street or give you a ticket (it’s $161.00 here). It’s not a good idea to ride sidewalks most of the time anyway, but if you do, be sure to be courteous to pedestrians and anything else you run into….don’t spook people by riding up behind them, squealing brakes, shooting past them without a warning, etc.

EDIT: 1992, I’ll beg to differ with you. Certain officers here will write the ticket. It gets worse when the kids are out of school and doing the bmx street thing. That $161 ticket is no joke.
