Renting a mountain bike in San Diego or LA and a nice ride; Where?

Im going to visit Los Angeles and San Diego in November. We would possibly like to take a half of day and rent a couple nice mountain bikes and cruise around. Where do they have nice bike rentals and where would be the best places to ride for a few hours each way? Oh and of course safe!

Not sure of where you can rent bikes, but take the old Pacific highway between San Clemente and Oceanside. It’s about 20 miles long. There’s trails down to the beach. Trail 4 is the easiest to ride
