I need help with cycling shoes?

I broke 4 shoelaces from the beginning of the year in mountain biking. Need find a pair of shoes that I can use mountain bike, without laces. Vans and converse slipons seem a bit flimsy, any other suggestion. Now I've been wearing slippers skating without laces, and tried to Doc Martens, but the strings broke two dams. Now that they have no shoelaces. Any suggestions, I've tried getting into the laces and double knots, however, track side branches, and rubbing the side of the gears and chains, fast break. Anyone else with this problem?

I remember when the casught cords cahin – many, many years ago. I switched to Walmart's sneakers had Velcro instead of laces for a number of years. Then I changed the pedals to the ones with staples and now have Shimano mountain bike shoes with Velcro.
