At around 3.79 million square miles, the U.S. is a vast nation – the world's third largest by area. Imperial Sand Dunes
Perhaps the most famous off-road destination in the country, and one of the most popular ATV riding in the world, the Imperial Sand Dunes (Glamis often called) of Southern California, near the border with Mexico includes approximately 118,000 acres terrain vehicle, as ATVs, dirt, sand rails, side to side and trucks.
Riding the dunes of Imperial for the first time is huge proportions, with difficulty ranging from easy for white knuckles. Getting lost is a concern because the ground is always morphing and mixtures stage together. The reward is traveling in a paradise of endless desert, seemingly designed only as an oasis of high speed riding ATV.
Mojave Desert
A spectacular getaway for residents of Southwest, and anyone looking for a change of pace, the Mojave Desert in California contains some of the most high desert riding in the country. Terrain varies from a huge valley extends to the treeless hills, bringing mostly pilots thousands of feet above the ground the desert. Do not let extreme weather scare. Spring in the Mojave Desert is particularly charming as the desert is full of life and covered with bright patches wildflowers.
Mount Hood National Forest
There is a reason that regularly hear of hikers exploring trapped on Mount Hood in Oregon – the views and extreme high altitude experience is worth a little risk. If you go by ATV and remain on the marked trail system, can get a similar thrill without having to pack and carry camping gear, and is likely to make it out alive at the end of the day.
Mount Hood is incredibly beautiful, and above the clouds (in some cases) ATV trails offer a variety of drivers and do a lot of fun and scenic ride. This is the dream-like riding a large scale.
Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area
Situated along the beautiful Pacific coast of southern California, just north Santa Barbara, Pismo Oceano Beach Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area is a popular destination for ATV dune riding right on the ocean coast. Formerly known as Pismo Dunes, Oceano is a geologically unique. The prevailing ocean winds create unusual driving conditions, but all drivers should exercise caution in detecting dangerous slipface drop-offs.
Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area
Like most California State Vehicular Recreation Area (SVRA), Ocotillo Wells has more than 80,000 acres of desert that is open to exploring off-road, which is a huge amount riding possibilities. Even better, Ocotillo is affordable: no fees are collected for camping or everyday use, and camping is allowed for 30 days a year – so stay awhile!
Key attractions include the erosion Blow Sand Hill, the 200-foot-high Devil's Slide, Barrel Springs sand dunes, the Reef Shell and unusual sandstone concretions Pumpkin Patch.
Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area
Like nowhere else on earth, the Oregon Dunes bring horse fantastic dunes, the Pacific Ocean and pine trees in one place remarkable. The dunes start at sea and in points, extending two miles inland and reach 500 meters on sea level.
The continent's largest coastal dunes, about half of the Oregon Dunes are open to motorized vehicles. Camps, staging areas and several annual events make this a top ATV destination.
