mountain biking gloves review
Good mountain bike gloves?

Need some help finding some mountain biking gloves.

Every glove that looks good to me has horrible reviews… I’m not super picky, just want something that is full fingered and can withstand some beating.

Thanks!

For the record, when it comes to MTB gear… throw Pearl Izumi right out the window. They make excellent road gear but dont know much at all about the dirt.

I second the other posters vote for the Fox Digit glove. Pretty simple and not overly protective but very functional, comfortable, and they’ve lasted me longer than any other gloves I’ve ever owned. The Fox Dirtpaw is another nice glove, a bit more lightweight than the Digit.. or, on the other side, the UniBomber’s are great too and offer a bit more protection than the Digits with the carbon knuckle on the outer fingers.

Dakine also makes a few decent pairs of gloves and they’re a fair bit cheaper than Fox’s as well. To be honest though, they just dont seem to be quite as comfortable as other gloves though. Very durable and protective though.

The gloves I’ve been riding with a lot recently are Oakley Factory Pilot’s and they’re easily the best gloves I’ve ever ridden. They’re expensive if you arent actually a “Factory Pilot” but they are damn nice and the most durable gloves I’ve owned. Full carbon knuckles, vented fingers, seamless full leather palms, and every bit as comfy as an XC glove…. After going through a few sets trying to find a righteous fit, I will say they fit a bit tighter than most gloves until you get riding in them… Chalk it up to them using real leather that needs to stretch a bit but, as someone who usually rides XL gloves, I had to blow out the palms of a few “too big” XL sets before realizing why the perfect fit at the factory was loose as hell after two hours on the trail.

I’d also give an honorable mention to Fox Bombers as well. I’ve only ever ridden about an hour on them before they completely came apart in a crash but I know several others who swear by them that have had them for ages without issues. I think I just managed to get a crap pair and, in their defense, Fox was super cool about replacing them so I cant complain.
