Table Mountain National Park is located in the southwestern tip of Africa. The park begins at scenic Signal Hill and stretches all the way to Cape Point, covering a distance of about 60 km. The park includes part of the Cape Floral Region World Heritage Site. From an aerial view, Table Mountain National Park is like a finger close hand, with a variety of spectacular beaches, bays and valleys. The park is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean in the west and False Bay in the east. Two of the country's most beautiful monuments can be found within the park, the Cape of Good Hope and Table Mountain.

Table Mountain Park is unique in that visitors can not find a vibrant bio-diversity or the fabulous beauty anywhere in the world, particularly in an area that is largely metropolitan, and includes the famous city Cape Town.

Visitors can enjoy the magnificent natural beauty in a variety of scenic walks around the park, including Chapman's Peak Drive, Boyes Drive, Victoria Road, the route to Simon's Town Smitswinkel Bay and the unit goes from Kommetjie Scarborough. Be sure to bring along a packed lunch with you because you will find many opportunities to stop and have a picnic. Some of the most popular are: Glen, Signal Hill, viewpoint, Kirtenbosch Botanical Garden, Newlands Forest, Constantia Nek, and Miller point Buffels Bay.

Technically, there is no accommodation options managed by the park within the park, however, you find a variety of different capacities, which are private property near the edge of metropolitan Cape Town.

Once you have reached the area, there a variety of different outdoor activities to choose from. If you are looking for an adventure of a lifetime, you might consider taking the 3-day tour Hoerikwaggo Table Mountain Trail. This tour is composed of three-day guided hiking experience that bridges the cultural history of the Cape Town area with heritage national who is associated with the Table Mountain.

Other activities include mountain biking, climbing, hiking trails, hang gliding and paragliding. Within the park a series of mountain bike trails are in operation along with several climbing routes that have been approved. Hang gliding and paragliding sites are in Lion's Head and Silvermine. If water-based activities are more to your liking, there are numerous reefs and beaches surrounding the peninsula, offering the opportunity to surf all year round. Excellent snorkeling and scuba diving, diving opportunities also can enjoy the clear waters as well. For something a little more relaxed, consider one of the many tidal pools located about Buffels Bay, Bordjiesrif and Oudekraal. Sport fishing is a popular activity in the area and, although you should be aware that the area and seasonal restrictions dictate where and what type of marine life can be captured. You can find more information about local restrictions and other activities in the area, visiting one of the information centers located in the Bureau of the mountain cable car station, rocks or Silvermine.
