What are the best mountain biking routes in Oregon?

I'm planning a trip to Oregon in July, and will probably stay in Portland. What are some good mountain bike trails around Portland? I'm fine with driving for a while to get some good riding, but rather not handle more than 2.5-3 hours! I'm looking for something crazy, but some challenging trails would be awesome. Thanks!
