Mountain Bike Question?

i am looking for a mountain bike to trail ride with in palo duro canyon in texas. what is a normal wheel size for off road use? 20 or 26 inch? what would be a cheap but good bike to use?

26″ is the standard for modern off road bikes. 20″ is reserved for BMX and kids bikes.

some decent brands that are cheap are Diamondback and Ironhorse. Dicks and sports authority sells them. if you want something simple that will last a while and doesnt require much maintainence, get a hardtail for $300-$500. a decent dual suspension bike for a beginner will run $600-$800. anything more than that, and you get the “real” parts. things that are serviceable and adjustable.
