Mountain Biking Trails Utah

Do I need to put a chain guide on my 2009 Rocky Mountain SXC 50?
I recently got an SXC 50 for christmas and its great. I love the triple chain rings up front because I live in Florida but this summer im going to be headed out west. I will be visiting a few Mountain Bike specific parks such as Keystone MTB Park (colorado) and Whistler MTB Park (Canada). I’m also going to be riding at places like Moab (Utah) where theres not a park but great trails. So my question is: Should I put a chain guide on my bike for this summer and switch it back after? And if I should, then do I need to buy all 3 parts; a new chain ring, the chain guide (I want an e13 LS1+) and a bashguard?
I have 3 chain rings on my Cannondale Prophet, I live in CO and go to Moab about once a year. If I was going to go to the lift served parks I might think about putting on a bash guard instead of the big chain ring, but then I would think again and just replace the large chain ring if I f*ed it up.
