Road Biking New York

The other day I was a passenger in the car with someone who suddenly became enraged when he saw a bicyclist who had later in our lane, curb trafficking color because it was beside the road. "They should not allow the bike on the road … I mean, really, why is this guy not on the sidewalk?! Just asking to be beaten, and that would serve him right! "
This was not the right attitude to have while driving. If you are new to an area or just moved, one of the first things you should be familiar with driving rules are in your particular area. For example, most states now, cyclists Adults are encouraged to travel on roads with traffic going in the same direction. However, recreational riders and children are still allowed to ride on sidewalks. Part of this was done to reduce harm to pedestrians using the sidewalks for walking and running and can not accurately respond to a cyclist is accelerating along the sidewalk up from 20 mph at times. In some states, cities and towns, such as Brooklyn, New York, there are even designated "cycle lanes" for those using their bicycles as their main mode of transport.
As responsible drivers, we must recognize that cyclists are just as much right to share the road with us, we are with them. Step into the shoes and realize how dangerous it can sometimes be for cyclists to share the roads with drivers who do not want sharing the road. I remember a chilling story of one of my cycling friends told me: My friend (whose name I will not say) told a story where she was out of training on his road bike for a day. She traveled along the road (according to the area lived in) when a car full of people rode along side her and began verbally taunting her from the windows of the car. As we slowed for a red light, the car stopped again at his side. This time, instead only verbally assaulting her, the occupants of the vehicle actually started throwing empty glass bottles at her while she was on her bike. When the light changed, my friend tried to run away on his bike as fast as he could, but she was no match for a car. The person driving the car, proceeded to execute my friend road, causing it to crash and damage to his bike races. Furthermore, also suffered some injuries that need care ended. Fear of she would be assaulted and possibly hurt by the occupants of the vehicle, contacted the local police authorities by phone. While So the vehicle was not in sight as it had accelerated.
Upon hearing this story, I like to think that any sane person would never do something like this for someone of his bicycle. Cars must always give way to cyclists, and the two must always yield to pedestrians (people who are running, walking or jogging). By respecting each other more, we will be able to, hopefully, learn to share the road without incident.
