questions about the law of cycling?

I have some questions about coming into intersections on a bicycle and whats legal and whats not. I live in Ontario and I’m 16 years old.

As a cyclist your are allowed to ride on the road, it is not illegal unless there is a sign saying no bicycles allowed. However, not all drivers see it that way and they are driving the huge thing that can kill you, so keep that in mind when asserting your rights.

In both cases it is legal for you to be in the lane. If you you squeeze over to the edge to allow cars to squeeze past you – you’re right, you could be hit. If you move further out into the lane, it makes the cars actually wait for a gap to pass you properly. There are pros and cons to both. While having cars squeeze by isn’t exactly safe, having irate car drivers behind you that can’t find room to pass isn’t safe, either.

Are there designated bike routes that can get you where you want to go? I’d stick to them as much as possible if I could.
