Is it illegal to ride a mountain bike along a power line?

here the land is privately owned everything, but I could make some power lines along singletrack .. large semi that already have cleared a large swath

Who owns the property, need your permission. Our local club has two lines on the parcel of land we have to use for routes in the area. The land is owned by the city, and the company Electric has easements to run and maintain the lines. No problem for us to have roads there, but avoid using the clear, since they generally brushhogs them and break the tractor tires when mowing the lawn, not to mention the big equipment that evidence if you have to do other work. Over the years we have developed a good relationship with the energy company and take special care not to damage our trails and out of the wood chips, etc. on them after work. It is one of those places where you may not get in trouble if you are building renegade trails, but you can see all your work Hard demolished time and again. One thing for certain, if no jump is generated there, they will be gone before you ….. or at least as soon as they come to do maintenance. Call around to see who has the ownership and use rights of ownership and courteous and professional approach them with the idea of putting in a little path there. You might get lucky. If no signal that tells you who to contact, then you can call the power company and see if they can help. May have results faster going through your County Assessor, however, unless the land is exempt. Hope this helps some. : O)
