Are there groups of beginners to travel by bike?

I love biking, and I love camping. Next weekend I am riding the canal C & O (185mi) for the first time. I'm going to split it in 2 days and leaves ample room for sightseeing and the occasional dip in the Potomac to cool (above cleaning DC). If all goes well I'll want to start doing rides Cross country for a week +. I do not know anyone that would be for this trip are not the groups that could involved with?
