Things to Consider When Shopping for a Waterproof Cycling Jacket

If you really love biking, then you really wouldn’t want anything to stop you from doing it—not even the rain.  Fortunately, a lot of people out there feel you and made products that would really help you in going through the challenges of biking in the rain.  But because there are a lot of these products available in the market now, there really is a need for you to make the right choice. This is so because there might be some people that are just being mean and making you buy products that are sure to cause you some problems later.  So empower yourself with the knowledge that will allow you to choose the best waterproof cycling jacket.

A good cycling jacket of this kind is the one that of course, really keep the water out.  The point of wearing this is that you do not want to be soaking wet when you arrive to where you’re going right? Don’t focus too much on the material or the fabric.  The manufacturers are not that dumb and naïve to try to fool you in that area.  Focus instead on the zippers. Are they really that closed? Water is liquid so even the smallest crevices will allow it to get to you. So try to examine it very closely.

A good one is also lightweight.  Remember that biking is a physical activity.  If you are wearing something that is heavier, then you might risk running out of energy and air.  The clothes that you wear put pressure on your body, mind you!  So always keep in mind to keep it light.  Light clothing will really allow you to move more freely and they are easier to wash and keep, too!

Also, make sure that the collars and the sleeves are able to cover what they are supposed to cover.  The collar should be high enough to protect the whole neck.  This is so because the neck is one the most temperature sensitive part of your body.  Since it is cold when raining, your neck might bring you a lot of discomforts when it is not covered well.  Moving on, the sleeves should be able to cover your wrists even if you are in the leaning position when biking.

Finally, always see to it that your waterproof cycling jacket has enough reflective material on it.  This is so because visibility is reduced when it is raining.  Hence, when you do not have the right reflectors, other commuters may not notice you and just collide or run over you.  Such a scary picture! To avoid it, be sure with the reflectors.
